Inwood Hill Park's Urban Ecology Center is the only natural forest left in Manhattan with hiking trails, bird-watching, and the Indian Rock Shelters (caves used by Lenape people). NYC Parks runs free naturalist-led programs for kids including birding walks, salt marsh exploration, and seasonal nature workshops. Suitable for kids age 5 through teen.
