Upper East Side chess program for kids ages three and up, originally founded as Chess at 3 and now branded as Story Time Chess with locations on the UES and in Park Slope. Programs are tiered by experience level with Intro to Chess for brand-new players, Chess for kids who can play full games, and Chess Plus as an invite-only advanced class for tournament-track students. The first class is $15, making it pressure-free to try. Classes emphasize storytelling alongside chess fundamentals, which has become the program's defining approach for engaging very young students. Story Time Chess also offers private coaching and tournament prep for serious players.
