William T. Davis Wildlife Refuge is a 260-acre wilderness preserve and the only NYC Wildlife Refuge designation. Trails wind through fresh-water and salt-water marshes, mature woodlands, and meadows. NYC Parks and Greenbelt Conservancy run free naturalist-led programs and birding walks (the refuge is a major fall migration stopover). Suitable for kids age 7 through teen with adult supervision.
